ZAHEER SHAH, Predator Who Posed as Taxi Driver, Jailed for Violent Rape of Teen in Leicester City Centre

Updated: Mar 21

Hi and welcome to this J.K. News Insight.

Zaheer Shah, 38, of Evington Drive, Leicester, has been handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of a heinous sexual assault which has heightened fears for public safety.

The trial at Leicester Crown Court, unveiled disturbing details of Shah's predatory behavior and callous disregard for his victim's well-being.

The incident, which occurred on March 4 last year, saw Shah prowling the streets of Leicester city center, targeting vulnerable individuals. Posing as a taxi driver, he lured a woman in her late teens into his car under false pretenses before driving to a secluded area where he committed the heinous act of rape.

Despite Shah's attempts to shift blame onto the victim during his trial, claiming she had inflicted injuries upon herself, compelling evidence presented by the prosecution painted a damning picture of his guilt. CCTV footage meticulously tracked Shah's movements around the city center before and after the assault, refuting his claims of innocence.

The lack of remorse exhibited by Shah throughout the trial serves as a chilling reminder of the dark world in which sexual predators posing as taxi drivers operate. His calculated actions, included planning and violence, raise concerns about what must be done to tackle sexual violence in society and the urgent need for action to combat this menace.

As Shah begins his sentence behind bars, people of Leicester are left grappling with the sobering reality of the horrors that lurk within their midst. Yet, in this moment of reckoning, there is an opportunity for increased resolve to emerge to heighten public awareness of these problems and bring about the critical pressure to urge leaders to act to dismantle the systems that enable such atrocities to occur.

Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned and stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
