Bailey Atkinson Murder : 7 Walsall Teenagers Convicted

Updated: Apr 5

Hi and welcome to this Jason King Report:

"I'm going to die. Tell my mom I love her".

These are the last words of Bailey Atkinson, the victim of a brutal gang killing in Walsall town centre at the hands of seven teenagers, who have now been convicted of his murder.

Bailey was with a female friend that night when two stolen cars containing members of a Walsall gang approached and attempted to run him over in a terrifying attack which took place not long after 1am on 30th January. His female friend was heard screaming by two Asda staff on break as she fled and tried to seek refuge, banging on the doors of shops shut up for the night.

Seven of the occupants of the two vehicles then hunted Bailey down, backed him into a corner and then beat, kicked and hacked at him using a variety of weapons including machetes and zombie knives, before leaving him for dead.

His last words were caught by police officers, while paramedics desperately sought to save him, administering open-heart surgery at the scene.

Investigating officers carried out a thorough investigation, carrying out 16 arrests including three teenagers - among those convicted - who had fled to Rhyl in Wales.

The attack was a cold-blooded and brutal premeditated killing, thought to be retaliation for violence Bailey was allegedly involved in - although two of the nine who stood trial did not leave the cars and did not have the intention to kill and were found not guilty of manslaughter or murder.

7 teenagers have been convicted of the savage killing which has haunted those who worked on this case.

Three are under 18 and have their identities protected. The four who can be named are:

Benjamin Wilkes aged 18 of Guild Avenue, Bloxwich

Patrick Brookes aged 18 of Hunter Crescent, Walsall

Sonny Loveridge aged 19 of Irvine Road, Bloxwich

Ronan McCulloch aged 18 of Livingstone Road, Bloxwich
