"Two Guilty Of Murder Of Cody Fisher: Private Messages Reveal Their Sinister World"

Updated: Mar 28

Hi and welcome to this Jason King Insight.

Two men have been convicted of the murder of Cody Fisher and another has been found not guilty in the culmination of a two month trial.

Remi Gordon and Kami Carpenter await sentencing for murder, while Anderson will be sentenced for affray for his involvement in the violence which shocked Birmingham.

Footballer Cody Fisher died from fatal stab wounds at Crane nightclub after having been attacked by a group of men.

The chaotic confrontation was the result of the group enacting retribution for an incident two days earlier, which had amounted to little more than accidental pushing in Solihull nightclub Popworld. But Remi Gordon had taken offence and felt the issue was not settled.

Evidence revealed in court a picture whereby it seems very unlikely that there had been any unanimous decision to end Cody's life, but the culture of lawlessness, violence, retribution and the carrying of weapons, which ultimately led to this tragedy, was a shared responsibility and two murder verdicts reflect that this act of deadly violence was considered a "joint enterprise" where responsibility does not only lie with the individual who inflict the fatal blow.

Key to understanding the seeds of this murder is the electronic evidence of online interactions on social media platforms such as a group chat on Snapchat, which provides a unique glimpse into the toxic world of these young men. Alongside some harmless discussion of online video games, thuggish violence,  there was a gruesome celebration of machetes,

and discussions about how to get them into venues across the West Midlands.

From online messages, a chaotic picture emerges of the incident, with Remi Gordon referring to Fisher having been held in a headlock and being knocked out. It later dawned that Fisher had in fact been stabbed to death, with the blade directed at his heart.

Talk then turned to what consequences awaited the gang, whether CCTV would reveal who had inflicted the fatal blow, and whether one or more individual would face a possible prison term. Plans to flee and hideout in Jamaica were mentioned, and the pros and cons of handing themselves into the police were discussed.

Whether or not they intended for Cody Fisher to die will be of little comfort to their family and friends of Cody, who paid warm tributes to the semi-professional footballer.

The chilling glimpse into the mindset of those involved in the attack is an urgent reminder of the menace which this culture of violence, untamed egos and fantasies of revenge which have been turned into a chilling reality, presents to society.

Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned and stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
