Describing the scene, a witness aboard the Southeastern train noted an escalating situation that quickly turned violent. The altercation, initially mistaken for rough play, escalated, with the assailant brandishing a knife, prompting passengers to flee to safety.Efforts to reason with the attacker ensued, with passengers imploring him to cease his actions. BTP responded to initial reports of a confrontation between two men at Shortlands station, shortly before 16:00 GMT on Wednesday.
In captured footage, passengers can be heard urging the assailant to halt his attack. The recovery of a knife forms a crucial part of the ongoing investigation, as stated by authorities.Superintendent Darren Malpas expressed hope that the arrest would offer some solace to the public, reassuring them of continued vigilance on the rail network.
