Pensioner Beaten to Death in London Street: Three Teenage Girls Charged in Shocking Late-Night Attack!

Three Teenage Girls Charged with Manslaughter of 75-Year-Old Man in Holloway Attack

By Ben Freeman

A 75-year-old man died after being surrounded, pushed, kicked, and punched by a group of teenage girls in a late-night attack outside a bank in Holloway, a court has heard. The three suspects, aged 14, 16, and 17, appeared at Highbury Corner Youth Court on Monday, where they were charged with his manslaughter.

The victim, named as Fredi Rivero, believed to be of Bolivian decent, was near a bus stop on Seven Sisters Road at around 11:35 p.m. on Thursday when the teenagers allegedly approached him after getting off a bus.

They initially walked away, but moments later returned, at which point he was confronted and assaulted. The court heard that one of the accused filmed the attack on her mobile phone as the pensioner was shoved, kicked, and punched before he fell to the ground.

Police arrived to find Rivero injured on the pavement, where they provided first aid until paramedics from the London Ambulance Service took over.  He was taken to hospital but succumbed to his injuries the following day. What was initially being treated as a case of grievous bodily harm was subsequently escalated to manslaughter.

Following the attack, officers established a large police cordon outside a Nationwide bank near the junction with Holloway Road. Images from the scene showed bloodstains on the pavement alongside a supermarket trolley and several shopping bags.  A separate cordon was later set up near Moonlight Supermarket, suggesting investigators were examining multiple locations connected to the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, leading the investigation for the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command, confirmed that forensic examinations and CCTV analysis were being carried out as part of the inquiry. Officers have already spoken to witnesses but continue to appeal for further information.

Superintendent Annmarie Cowley, responsible for policing in Islington, acknowledged the concerns this incident has raised within the local community.  She assured residents that additional patrols had been deployed in the area and encouraged anyone with information to speak to officers.

“I know this death will cause shock and very real concern in Holloway and the wider Islington area,”

 she said.

“I share those concerns, and I want to assure local people that a thorough police investigation is under way.”

At Highbury Corner Youth Court, prosecutors outlined how Rivero was first encircled by the group before the attack took place. The teenagers were initially arrested on suspicion of GBH, but after the victim’s death, the charges were upgraded.

The court heard that after being assaulted, Rivero collapsed, and the severity of the attack, coupled with the fact it had been recorded on a mobile phone, formed part of the case against the defendants.

All three teenagers, who cannot be named due to their ages, were remanded into youth detention accommodation. They are scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on March 31, where the case will continue.

The Metropolitan Police have urged anyone with further information to contact 101, quoting CAD 8184/27Feb, or to provide details anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all, stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
