Updated: Mar 4

Hi, and welcome to this Jason King Insight.

In a significant victory against drug trafficking in Redditch, two individuals have been sentenced to prison following diligent investigations by the north Worcestershire county lines team. The crackdown comes as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the pervasive network of 'county lines', a term referring to the distribution of drugs from urban hubs to smaller towns and rural areas.

This latest crackdown focused on Kyiem Dormer and Pharez Atkinson-Scott, two criminals driven by greed, whose took part in this illicit trade bringing darkness to Redditch. Exploiting vulnerable people, they flooded the streets with crack cocaine and heroin, inflicting misery upon communities already struggling.

But their reign of exploitation came to an abrupt halt when the relentless north Worcestershire county lines team turned their sights on these men.

The operations targeting the Marlow and Jumbo county lines yielded critical breakthroughs. Officers stormed a property at Bushley Close in Redditch, seizing the county line phone vital for their business along with a substantial hoard of deadly crack cocaine and heroin. Dormer was swiftly apprehended, set to face the full might of the justice system.

Likewise, there was again no escape from the long arm of the law as Atkinson-Scott was nabbed at a Sainsbury’s service station, caught red-handed with 20 wraps of cocaine and heroin, comprom the operations of the Jumbo county line.

Pleas for mercy fell on deaf ears as both faced the music in Worcester Crown Court. Dormer, 22, from Birmingham, was handed a sentence of three years and one month for possession with intent to supply and being involved in the supply of the illicit substances.

Detective Constable David Laver emphasized the significance of Dormer's sentencing, highlighting its role in dismantling yet another county line operation. Laver underscored the importance of community involvement, urging individuals to come forward with any information to aid law enforcement in combatting drug-related activities.

Atkinson-Scott, 22, residing in Birmingham, received a sentence of three years and six months for possession with intent to supply.

DC Lloyd Davies commended the relentless efforts of the north Worcestershire county lines team and underscored the pivotal role of public cooperation in bringing perpetrators to justice. Davies reiterated the team's unwavering commitment to tackling drug-related offenses and expressed gratitude to individuals who contributed valuable intelligence, ultimately leading to successful convictions.

As law enforcement agencies continue to intensify their efforts against county lines operations, the recent sentences serve as a stern warning to those involved in drug trafficking activities, reaffirming the determination to safeguard communities against the devastating impact of illicit drugs, and Dormer's sentence, three years and one month, and Atkinson-Scott's, three years and six months, resonate with the public's thirst for justice.

Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned and stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
