In a decisive outcome from Reading Crown Court, four men have been sentenced to a collective 97 years in prison for the brutal murder of Kyron Lee in Slough. This verdict follows an extensive investigation by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit.
The court proceedings, spanning three days, concluded on June 20th with the following sentences:
- Khalid Nur, 22, of Graylands Close, Slough, received life imprisonment with a minimum term of 26 years. He was found guilty of murder on July 26th last year.
- Mohammed Elgamri, 20, of Carter Close, Windsor, was also sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 25 years. His conviction for murder was reached on July 27th last year.
- Yaqhub Mussa, 23, of Daylesford Grove, Slough, pleaded guilty to murder on May 30th last year and was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 23 years and nine months.
- Fras Seedahmed, 19, of Surrey Avenue, Slough, was handed life imprisonment with a minimum term of 23 years. He was found guilty of murder on March 26th this year.
Two additional individuals, Ilias Almallah, 22, and Mohamed Abdulle, 21, both of Slough, are due for sentencing on July 19th. Almallah was convicted of murder, while Abdulle pleaded guilty to conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.
The fatal incident occurred on the evening of October 2nd, 2022. Kyron Lee, 21, was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a car on Earls Lane. Nur, Mussa, Elgamri, and Almallah exited the vehicle and pursued Kyron into Waterman Court, where they launched a fatal attack. The men then fled the scene in the car driven by Seedahmed. Despite the efforts of paramedics, Kyron was pronounced dead shortly after 9:45 pm.
Abdulle was involved in the planning of the attack and was present with the group shortly before the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Mike Roddy, leading the investigation, acknowledged the fortitude of Kyron’s family throughout the judicial process. He emphasized the premeditated nature of the attack, highlighting the assailants' use of a stolen car, weapons, and disguises to evade identification and prosecution.
Superintendent Helen Kenny, local policing area commander for Slough, reiterated the force's commitment to combating knife crime. She called for community cooperation in providing information to prevent violent crime and underscored the severe consequences for those carrying weapons.
The investigation into Kyron's death will be featured in an upcoming episode of Channel 4’s "Catching a Killer" this summer.
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
