"Basildon Bloodshed: 40-Year Sentence for Vicious Stabbing Duo!"

In a recent development, two young men have been sentenced to a total of 40 years in prison for attempted murder following a vicious assault that occurred in Basildon.


The incident took place on February 16, 2021, when a man in his 30s was walking along Wimbish End, Pitsea. He encountered a group of individuals with whom he had previous conflicts and attempted to leave the area. However, he was pursued and eventually attacked by the group near a small car park off Mill Green.


During the assault, the victim was stabbed under the armpit with a Rambo knife and sustained a total of eight wounds to various parts of his body. The injuries were severe and life-threatening, requiring immediate medical attention.


The perpetrators, Jordan Yakulu, 24, of Moretons, Pitsea, and Jay Silver, 22, of Merrivale, Benfleet, were found guilty of the crime and sentenced to 19 years and 21 years in prison, respectively. Additionally, Trenton Best, 19, of Ayletts, Basildon, received a four-year sentence for causing grievous bodily harm with intent.


Detective Inspector Stewart Eastbrook, from Basildon Criminal Investigation Department, described the attack as “brutal and sustained,” emphasizing the severity of the crime and the danger posed by the perpetrators. He commended the investigative efforts of the police, particularly DC Bryony Harrison, in securing the convictions.


Tackling violent crime remains a priority for Essex Police, and efforts to address such incidents are yielding results, ensuring the safety of the public.
