Hi and welcome to this JK NEWS B'HAM Crime Report for VPN: REGIONAL NETWORKS:

A would-be rapist has been jailed for seven years and three months after subjecting his victim to a terrifying 4-hour ordeal.
Ghulan Mohammed targeted a vulnerable woman who had been on a night out, badgering her for an hour before persuading her to get into his car. He sexually assaulted her multiple times throughout the night and attempted to rape her.
Despite overwhelming evidence against him, Mohammed, arrested the day after the incident, chose to plead not guilty, which put his victim through further trauma at trial.
The full harrowing series or events which took place on the evening of 18 December 2023 was revealed at trial in Nottingham court: Ghulan Mohammed had been driving around Leicester looking for a prostitute when he spotted a vulnerable young woman in St. Nicholas Circle who was intoxicated after a night out. He then followed her for an hour on foot. The woman didn’t speak English and relied on an app translating from Mandarin. She asked if he was a taxi driver, and Mohammed persuaded to get into his car.
He drove her to several remote areas where he sexually assaulted her and attempted to rape her, before heading to a hotel where he still tried to persuade her to share a room with him.
The woman bravely fought off his advances. She had tried to get help by banging on the glass doors while they were stopped at a petrol station, and was later able to send a text message to friends who came and rescued her. Even then, after being rescued by friends, Mohammed continued to follow her until her taxi arrived at Mansfield House Police Station.
An urgent investigation was launched, trawling CCTV and police databases , resulting in Mohammed being arrested in his home just 28 hours after the crime was reported.
Speaking to authorities, the woman didn’t recall many details of the evening but remembered desperately fending off Mohammed’s advances. Data from the translation app, recording her calls for him to stop and asking for him to give her back her clothes, backed up her claims.
Mohammed was found guilty of attempted rape and four counts of sexual touching. He was also convicted of theft and four counts of fraud after stealing the victim’s bank card and making four payments totalling £125.14.
DC Le Boutillier of Leicester Police commented on the court outcome, stating “I am pleased that justice has been done and this dangerous individual is no longer on our streets.”
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
